In celebration of NAIDOC Week, Ramsgate RSL held its annual Indigenous Sporting Round. This initiative was passionately extended to the Sutherland Shire with local sporting partners of Club Engadine RSL and The Arbour Heathcote to honour and recognise the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This event brings together players, supporters, and the wider community in a spirit of unity and respect. It is a meaningful way to celebrate NAIDOC Week while highlighting the importance of reconciliation and inclusion through sport and hospitality.
Sporting partners who participated in the round included:
- Ramsgate RSL Football Club
- Ramsgate RSL Netball Club
- Ramsgate Junior AFC
- Brighton Seagulls Junior Rugby League Football Club
- Engadine Eagles Football Club
- Bosco Bulldogs Junior Rugby League Football Club
Each club’s celebrations featured traditional Welcome to Country ceremonies, cultural performances, and specially designed Indigenous jerseys and unforms worn with pride by players across a few of the clubs.
Leo Blanda, President of Ramsgate RSL Football Club, added;
“Sport has the power to bring people together, and this round allowed us to not only play the game we love but to pay respect and learn from the world’s oldest living culture.”
Societie Group remains committed to supporting Indigenous voices and creating inclusive spaces that foster understanding, respect, and celebration of First Nations heritage.
